Glasgow Agreement

Since the 16th of November more than 90 organisations from around the world have joined the Glasgow Agreement! They commit to take into their own hands the need to collectively cut greenhouse gas emissions and keep fossil fuels in the ground inside the framework of climate justice.

In the next months we will build territorial inventories of emissions, bringing disaggregated information as much as possible into an infrastructural level. We will then build Climate Agendas from below, to tackle emissions pointing priorities for shutdown, resizing or retrofitting inside our framework of climate justice. This agenda must integrate the care economy, defend a just transition for workers and society, defend historical reparation for the communities in the frontlines of colonialism, globalization and exploitation, and reject false solutions of green capitalism and extractivism. We will use a vast array of strategies and tactics, including civil disobedience to implement these climate agendas.

We have no more time to lose. We need to build a plan of our own.

We are the ones we had been waiting for.

On November 26th, the United American Indians of New England will be holding the 51st Annual National Day of Mourning in Plymouth, Massachusetts. This hybrid virtual and in-person event serves as a reminder of the genocide of millions of Native people, the theft of Native lands, and the relentless assault on Native culture. Participants in National Day of Mourning honor Native ancestors and the struggles of Native peoples to survive today. It is a day of remembrance and spiritual connection as well as a protest of the racism and oppression which Native Americans continue to experience. NAMRA has participated in this event in the past years by bringing hydro-impacted community members to share their experiences. and we will be participating in this year’s event as well! Please feel free to share this!
