Kamloops, British Columbia and area residents attended the Kamloops’ Global Climate Action rally at 11 am (PT) and signed a pledge for action on climate justice. The pledge is as follows: I acknowledge the need for urgent action to keep global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees, as called for by the International Panel on Climate Change, and as is being discussed at COP 26 this week; I pledge to do everything within my power, with my fellow citizens and all levels of government, to meet that goal. People can also sign the pledge online at https://bit.ly/3nUm7cm We had local politicians and climate scientists speak, and our MP (a Conservative) attended. People made posters, met with others concerned about the climate emergency, and shared ideas on what next we can do here in Kamloops to counter climate change.
