Around 150 people took part in a march which took place in Brisbane on the Global Day of Action, starting in the city centre’s King George Square. The organisers behind the march, the Students for Climate Justice group, said this on the event page: “We are under no illusion that these demands can be met easily. Here in Australia our federal and state governments continue to subsidise the fossil fuel industry to the tune of billions each year. Despite the unprecedented bushfires in late 2019, we continue to expand our coal and gas exports, despite setting targets for net zero in the distant future.”
