Hi from the West Yorks COP26 Coalition Global Day of Action in Leeds, England, UK. Thousands gathered in Millenium Square to protest and march around Leeds City centre in support of COP26 Coalition International Day for climate justice. The action was co-organised by the Yorks and Humber COP26 Coalition and Extinction Rebellion Leeds, with overwhelming support from local unions, community groups and local MPs. The event featured live music, stalls from trade unions, campaigns and environmental activist groups and sustainability projects, and speakers from the Leeds Trades Union Council, Our Future Leeds, Racial Justice Network, MEDACT, Keep Our NHS public, National Education Union, National Union of Students, Bakers Union, Permaculture Association, Christian Climate Action,, Friends of the Earth, Fossil Free West Yorkshire Pension Fund, GALBA, Better buses for WY, XR Families, Climate Action Leeds and local Labour MP, Richard Burgon. Police estimated around 3,500-4,000 people took part in the march, where the start of the march had returned down the Headrow back to Millenium Square before the end of the marchers had left heading down Park Row!
