People’s voices in national climate policies – good practice for meaningful civil society engagement
NDCs are a cornerstone of the Paris Agreement and the crucial component of its so-called Ambition Mechanism. This session explores how key stakeholders, particularly civil society organisations from the local to the national level can be involved in the design of the NDCs and related climate policies. Drawing from case studies from Kenya, Colombia and Ukraine, the panelists define a common set of criteria and standards that must be applied in future NDC revision, so that national climate policies genuinely support the whole-of-society approach that is necessary to solve the climate crisis
